Columbus Vegetable Oils, a family, woman owned company servicing the food industry is seeking a full-time, experienced Maintenance Mechanic for its DesPlaines, Illinois production facility. Join us and work to maintain the day-to-day operations of the facility, coordinate special projects directed by the Maintenance Manager and ensure the safety and quality of our products.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of production machines, plant facilities and for the proper preventative maintenance of the plant and production equipment as assigned
• Diagnose and repair malfunctioning production and plant equipment
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on production equipment
• Lubricate equipment on a scheduled basis
• Replace broken belts, bearings and motors on equipment as necessary
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems and controls for production equipment and throughout the plant
• Perform related duties as assigned
• Maintain cleanliness in assigned areas
• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
  
  

Required Skills And Education

• HS diploma or GED required
• Food processing experience preferred
• One year on the job training by other maintenance mechanics
• 2+ years in the troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of plant production machinery
  
  

Preferred Additional Skills

• Working knowledge of mechanical inspection and repairs
• Demonstrated mechanical and electrical equipment maintenance abilities
• Experience in 3 phase electric and AC/DC circuitry skills are essential
• Ability to read diagrams a plus
• Experience in repair of forklifts a plus
• Welding and machine shop skills are a plus
