Our campus includes the 460-bed Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, which provides short-term rehabilitation, long-term skilled nursing care, memory care, respiratory and ventilator services, palliative and hospice care, social and medical adult day programs, as well as on-site dialysis and infusion therapy. The campus also features Gurwin Jewish : Fay J. We are currently seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to join our dedicated team. This position requires working five shifts per week, including every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday). Shift hours are 10:00 am – 6:00 pm.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• This is a campus position and not limited to one building
• Maintain and repair the facility’s HVAC, boilers, plumbing, electrical systems, equipment, and grounds.
• Troubleshoot building problems and perform preventive maintenance.
• Complete work orders and maintenance documentation.
• Respond to emergencies and snow events, potentially working extended hours.
• Work around residents, including people with dementia and behavioral challenges.
• Follow fire/disaster procedures and facility safety requirements.
• Available for snow removal as needed and on call
• Work with relatively little supervision.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Basic electrical, plumbing, and mechanical knowledge.
• HVAC troubleshooting.
• Boiler experience/knowledge.
• Ability to diagnose building operational problems.
• Ability to work independently.
• Comfort working in a healthcare/subacute-care environment.
• Reliability during emergencies.
• Understands written and oral instructions.
• Completes work and tasks as directed.
• Capable of using small hand and power tools.
• Capable of extensive bending, standing, walking, climbing ladders, shoveling snow and kneeling.
• Capable of lifting and moving heavy objects (up to 75 lbs).
• Capable of completing assigned tasks appropriately and without call back.
