This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Under minimal supervision, the Maintenance Mechanic assists the Facility Director in maintaining the operation of YMCA buildings, grounds, and vehicles.

What You’ll Do
- Respond promptly to maintenance issues
- Participate in preventive maintenance programs
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and plumbing problems
- Maintain swimming pools per health regulations
- Assist in cleaning and maintaining the facility interior and exterior
- Select and use appropriate tools and materials
- Notify supervisor of supplies and inventory needs
- Follow safety and risk management procedures
- Wear appropriate PPE
- Complete projects on schedule
- Identify and suggest improvements for safety, maintenance, and aesthetics
- Perform custodial tasks as assigned
- Attend relevant meetings, training, and seminars
- Ensure policy compliance
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- At least 21 years old
- Minimum of 5 years’ facilities maintenance experience
- Mechanical and electrical skills required
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to obtain Class 24 Pesticide Certification within 1 year
- Ability to obtain Certified Pool Operator (C.P.O.) certification within 1 year
- Good grooming and communication skills
- Knowledge of trades such as plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, etc.
- Basic computer skills
- Obtain and maintain certifications within 90 days of hire
Work Conditions and Physical Demands
The role requires physical activities such as climbing stairs, bending, kneeling, reaching, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working outdoors and indoors, often in varying weather conditions.
