Job summary

Turner Industries is seeking an Ironworker for a maintenance role in Pass Christian, MS. You will work with a crew to raise, place, and unite girders, columns, and other steel members to form structures and frameworks.

The position is non-exempt, reports to the foreman, and duties are performed per client procedures with frequent checks on work. Relocation is not offered; residency near the area is required.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent is required.
• 1–4 years of experience in the specified skill (level dependent).
• Knowledge of ironworker tools and how to use them is required.
• Rigging skills including wire rope slings are required.
• Some sites may require NCCER certification.
• Written pre-employment qualification test.
• Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation.
• Job site safety requirements as required by the client (clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots, etc.).
• Safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.).
• Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to health or safety of others in the workplace.
• NO relocation available for this position; must be a current resident in/near the area.

Responsibilities

• Unload deliveries of structural material from the fabricator.
• Set up and break down hoisting equipment for raising and placing structural-steel members.
• Fasten steel members to hoist cable and guide into position.
• Bolt aligned members and verify vertical and horizontal alignment.
• Cut steel members to make alterations.
• Ensure final positioning before permanent bolting.
