Job summary

Turner Industries is seeking an Ironworker for a position in the Cameron, LA area. The role involves raising, placing and uniting structural-steel members as part of a crew, with a focus on safety and quality workmanship.

The position requires 1–4 years of experience, knowledge of ironworker tools, and rigging with wire rope slings. Per diem may be available; drug testing and a pre-employment qualification are required. Shift is days, typically 6- to 10-hour days.

Qualifications

  • High school or equivalent required.
  • 1–4 years of ironworker experience depending on mechanic level.
  • Knowledge of ironworker tools and how to use them.
  • Rigging skills including wire rope slings.
  • NCCER preferred.
  • Per diem available, must be at least 50 miles from the jobsite to qualify.
  • Written pre-employment qualification test.
  • Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation.
  • Job site safety requirements per client (clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots, etc.).
  • Safety equipment as required by client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.).
  • Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to health or safety.

Responsibilities

  • Unloads deliveries of structural material from the fabricator.
  • Sets up and breaks down hoisting equipment for raising and placing structural-steel members.
  • Bolts aligned members to keep them in place until permanently bolted.
  • Signals hoist operator to lift and place members and guides them into position.
  • Verifies alignment and ensures safe final positioning of all members.

We are seeking an Ironworker for a position in the Cameron, LA area. The Ironworker position works as a member of a crew to raise, place and unite girders, columns and other structural-steel members to form completed structures and frameworks. Non-exempt role; Reports to the Foreman; Assigned duties according to specific procedures / work is checked frequently.

  • Shift: Days - 6-10's
Essential Qualifications
  • High school or equivalent
  • One (1) to four (4) years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level)

Functional Requirements

Off loads deliveries of structural material from hg the fabricator; sets up and breaks down hoisting equipment for raising and placing structural-steel members; fastens steel members to cable of hoist; signals worker operating hoisting equipment to lift and place steel member; guides member or rides on member in order to guide it into position; pulls or pries steel members into approximate position while member is supported by hoisting device; forces members into final position; aligns holes in member with corresponding holes in previously placed member; verifies vertical and horizontal alignment of members; bolts aligned members to keep them in position until they can be permanently bolted; cuts steel members to make alterations.

Compensation

Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.

Physical Involvement
