Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred with field experience.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools and layout tools safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Reads specifications or blueprints to determine locations, quantities, or sizes of material required.
• Fabricates metal parts, such as steel frames, columns, beams, or girders, according to blueprints.
• Unloads and positions prefabricated steel units for hoisting; signals hoisting operators to lift and place members.
• Verifies vertical and horizontal alignment of structural steel members using levels or laser equipment.
• Cuts, bends, or welds steel pieces using torches or welding equipment.
• Forces structural steel members into final positions using tools.
• Bolts members in place for permanent riveting, bolting, or welding.
• Assembles hoisting equipment or riggings to move heavy equipment or materials.
