Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Lansing, Michigan, is seeking a Maintenance Support role to assist the Maintenance Manager in planning, scheduling, and executing maintenance work to ensure efficient workflow and equipment reliability.

The role requires strong computer skills, knowledge of inventory control and PM programs, the ability to read complex instructions, and the capacity to work with minimal supervision while maintaining accurate records.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree preferred; or minimum two years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• General knowledge of maintenance tools and equipment.
• Differentiate mechanical vs electrical issues to aid in work assignments.
• Prioritize work to meet production needs.
• Read, write, and comprehend complex instructions and memos.
• Proficient with PC, email, word processing, spreadsheets; able to learn CMMS.

Responsibilities

• Maintains daily work order spreadsheets.
• Logs incoming materials and machine parts into inventory control software.
• Puts away some incoming parts.
• Updates inventory control software with parts used and ensures purchasing reorders low items.
• Maintains Preventative Maintenance software system, logs information and aids in scheduling work due.
• Assists other facilities with maintenance software selection and implementation.
• Assists in the development of the PM program.
• Assists with contractor pricing reviews and scheduling.
• Tracks direct purchases (field PO’s) and collects receipts.
• Maintains department metrics – KPI’s including safety data and work order tracking.
• Schedules and prepares agenda for department meetings.
• Sets department meetings and appointments.
• Answers phones, sorts and distributes mail. Maintains department communications.
• Facilitates department workflow – occasionally dispatching emergency repairs.
• Works with other facility staff to complete special assignments as needed.
• Performs other job duties as assigned.
