Genesis HealthCare, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to keep a nursing center and its grounds clean, safe, and well‑kept. You will perform minor repairs across handrails, windows, flooring, and equipment, while supporting supply management and budget adherence.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and basic knowledge of wiring, plumbing and carpentry. This is a hands‑on position with a focus on resident comfort and facility safety in a long‑term care setting.

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent.
• Basic wiring, plumbing and carpentry knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the nursing center and grounds in a clean, safe and orderly condition with a pleasing appearance.
• Make minor repairs to handrails, windows, flooring, walls, ceilings, beds, wheelchairs, geri-chairs, electrical equipment, sprinkler systems, generators, emergency lighting, fire alarms and extinguishers.
• Change filters on HVAC equipment.
• Restock unit-based locations and patient rooms from central supply to ensure nursing customer satisfaction.
• Verify items on invoices are priced correctly.

Responsibilities

Maintenance Assistant completes a variety of tasks to maintain the nursing center and grounds in a clean, safe, and orderly condition along with a pleasing appearance.

• Make minor repairs to handrails, windows, flooring, walls, ceilings, beds, wheelchairs, geri-chairs, electrical equipment, sprinkler systems, generators, emergency lighting, fire alarms and extinguishers
• Changes filters on HVAC equipment
• Carries, lifts and stocks supplies
• Assume Maintenance supervisor's responsibilities in his/her absence

• Partner with nursing center leadership to ensure compliance with Genesis Standard Operating Procedures by purchasing to PPD Budget, adhering to spend against budget goals, ensuring readiness by minimizing emergency orders, and managing product utilization.
• Establish and maintain reorder point information for routinely used products.
• Restock unit-based locations and/or patient rooms from central supply to ensure nursing customer satisfaction.
• Ensure proper receipt of medical and nursing supply shipments by confirming that all items on the driver's manifest and purchase order match and are in acceptable condition.
• Verify items on invoices are priced correctly.
