Bellwood Developmental Center in Bellwood, IL, is seeking an experienced Maintenance Director to lead the Maintenance and Housekeeping Department and ensure safe, compliant facility operations.

The role focuses on preventive maintenance, budget stewardship, safety leadership, and coordination with administrators. Requires 3+ years supervisory maintenance experience and knowledge of building systems.

Qualifications

• Must have high school education or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years supervisory experience in maintenance/plant settings.
• Knowledge of boilers, compressors, generators and mechanical/electrical systems.
• Ability to read blueprints and understand building codes and safety regulations.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and direct maintenance and housekeeping departments.
• Coordinate maintenance with other departments and report to Administrator.
• Develop preventive maintenance programs and supervise outside vendors as needed.
• Ensure safety policies, MSDS labeling, and waste disposal procedures are followed.
• Monitor budget, equipment, supplies, and inventory; participate in safety committees.
• Attend department head meetings and provide reports to management.
• Be prepared to handle emergencies and maintain resident safety.
