Description
- Ensure that maintenance schedules are followed as outlined for the respective shift or area.
- Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor, regardless of severity, on the shift they occur.
- Coordinate daily maintenance services with nursing staff when performing routine tasks in resident areas.
- Perform other duties as directed by your supervisor, department director, or administrator.
- Maintain resident confidentiality by not disclosing protected health information and report any violations promptly.
- Attend departmental and staff meetings as scheduled or called.
- Follow work assignments and file complaints or grievances with your supervisor.
- Follow maintenance schedules and policies, performing routine maintenance on grounds, facility, and equipment, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical tasks.
- Perform cleaning duties such as window and screen cleaning, replacing bulbs, and general cleaning as directed.
- Service heating and cooling units per manufacturer instructions and policies.
- Handle unscheduled maintenance tasks as needed and ensure replenishment of supplies.
- Ensure the facility and equipment are maintained for resident comfort and safety.
- Report equipment malfunctions promptly and adhere to safety precautions when using tools and equipment.
- Assist with lifting heavy objects and ensure equipment is cleaned and stored properly after use.
- Maintain confidentiality of all resident information, reporting any unauthorized disclosures.
- Inform residents about moving their personal possessions when necessary.
Supervisory Requirements
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10th-grade education.
- Ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions, and accept constructive criticism.
- Effective communication skills with personnel, residents, families, and the public.
- Ability to maintain the care and appearance of work areas and seek new maintenance methods.
- Basic mathematical skills involving fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to interpret various instructions.
Physical Demands
Must occasionally lift/move up to 25 pounds, sit, stand, walk, and communicate effectively. May assist in evacuations.
Work Environment
Work typically occurs in a low to moderate noise environment, with accommodations available for disabilities.
