Description
- Ensure that maintenance schedules are followed as outlined for the respective shift or area.
- Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor, regardless of severity, on the shift they occur.
- Coordinate daily maintenance services with nursing staff when performing routine tasks in resident living areas.
- Perform other duties as directed by your supervisor, department director, or administrator.
- Maintain resident confidentiality and report any suspected violations of protected health information to the Administrator.
- Attend departmental and staff meetings as scheduled or called.
- Follow daily work assignments and file complaints or grievances with your supervisor.
- Follow maintenance schedules and policies, performing routine maintenance on grounds, facility, and equipment, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical tasks.
- Perform cleaning duties such as window and screen cleaning, replacing burned-out bulbs, and maintaining lighting fixtures.
- Service heating and cooling systems per manufacturer instructions and policies.
- Handle unscheduled maintenance tasks as directed and ensure replenishment of supplies.
- Report equipment malfunctions promptly and ensure safety precautions are followed.
- Assist in lifting heavy objects and ensure equipment is cleaned and stored properly after use.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident information and report any breaches.
- Inform residents when moving personal possessions is necessary.
Supervisory Requirements
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10th grade education.
- Ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions, and accept constructive criticism.
- Good interpersonal skills with personnel, residents, families, and the public.
- Ability to maintain supplies and equipment, and adopt new maintenance methods.
- Basic mathematical skills involving fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to interpret various instructions.
Physical Demands
Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds, prolonged use of a computer, and physical activity including sitting, standing, walking, and talking. May assist in emergency evacuations.
Work Environment
Work typically occurs in a low to moderate noise environment, with accommodations available for disabilities.
