Job description

Description

1. Ensure that maintenance schedules are followed as outlined for the respective shift or area.
2. Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor, regardless of severity, on the shift they occur.
3. Coordinate daily maintenance services with nursing staff when performing routine tasks in resident living areas.
4. Perform other duties as directed by your supervisor, department director, or administrator.
5. Maintain resident confidentiality and report any suspected violations of protected health information to the Administrator.
6. Attend departmental and staff meetings as scheduled or called.
7. Follow daily work assignments and file complaints or grievances with your supervisor.
8. Follow maintenance schedules and policies, performing routine maintenance on grounds, facility, and equipment, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical tasks.
9. Perform cleaning duties such as window and screen cleaning, replacing burned-out bulbs, and maintaining lighting fixtures.
10. Service heating and cooling systems per manufacturer instructions and policies.
11. Handle unscheduled maintenance tasks as directed and ensure replenishment of supplies.
12. Report equipment malfunctions promptly and ensure safety precautions are followed.
13. Assist in lifting heavy objects and ensure equipment is cleaned and stored properly after use.
14. Maintain confidentiality of resident information and report any breaches.
15. Inform residents when moving personal possessions is necessary.

Supervisory Requirements

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10th grade education.
• Ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions, and accept constructive criticism.
• Good interpersonal skills with personnel, residents, families, and the public.
• Ability to maintain supplies and equipment, and adopt new maintenance methods.
• Basic mathematical skills involving fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
• Problem-solving skills and ability to interpret various instructions.

Physical Demands

Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds, prolonged use of a computer, and physical activity including sitting, standing, walking, and talking. May assist in emergency evacuations.

Work Environment

Work typically occurs in a low to moderate noise environment, with accommodations available for disabilities.
