Maintenance Assistant

The main function of the Plant and Maintenance Assistant is to provide assistance in the care of the facility buildings and grounds by performing a variety of skilled and unskilled maintenance and repair duties in assigned maintenance operations, which may include outdoor areas, lighting, facilities, common areas, hallways, and resident rooms.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure machinery runs smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of the building is maintained
• Assemble, install or repair wiring, electrical components, plumbing, etc.
• Assist with upkeep of exterior grounds
• Set up meeting areas for meetings and events
• Report any issues or problems that may arise to the Plant & Maintenance Supervisor
• Assist families and visitors as needed

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; minimum of 1 year of previous experience in a maintenance position; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Previous experience in a long-term care or hospital setting preferred
