Job summary

Goose Creek Correctional Center in Mackenzie Point, Alaska, is seeking an Office Assistant 1 to support the mailroom operations and general administrative tasks under supervision of the Mailroom Staff Sergeant.

You will sort, x-ray, inspect, scan, and deliver mail for up to 1,500 inmates and 350 staff, maintain logs, and process postage with attention to policy and security procedures. The role offers 4/10 schedules, on-site amenities, and parking benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Acceptance in full standing by a college or university is acceptable
• Career Readiness Certificate with ACT WorkKeys scores in graphic literacy, applied math, and workplace documents accepted

Responsibilities

• Sort, x-ray, inspect, scan, and deliver mail for up to 1,500 inmates and 350 staff according to policy
• Receive outgoing mail from staff and inmates and determine cost-effective shipping options
• Maintain log for all incoming/outgoing mail and input inmate postage charges
• Log and track postage meter balance and coordinate funds with Administrative Officer
