The Goose Creek Correctional Center in Mackenzie Point, Alaska, is seeking an Office Assistant 1 to support mailroom operations under the supervision of the Staff Sergeant. You will sort, x-ray, inspect, scan, and deliver mail for up to 1,500 inmates and 350 staff in accordance with state policy.

The role emphasizes accuracy, record-keeping, and postage management. A high school diploma or GED is required, with ACT WorkKeys certification considered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Acceptance in full standing by an accredited college.
• ACT WorkKeys scores in graphic literacy, applied math and workplace documents.

Responsibilities

• Sort, x-ray, inspect, scan, and deliver mail for inmates and staff.
• Receive outgoing mail, determine cost-effective shipping, affix postage.
• Maintain logs for incoming/outgoing mail and input postage charges.
• Log postage meter balance and request funds as needed.
