Job summary

Jackson State University is seeking a Shipping and Receiving Processor to manage mail/packaging for campus units. You will receive, sort, and route mail and packages for students, faculty, staff, and departments, and handle arrivals from USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL, and other carriers.

You will create shipping labels, input shipment data, scan items, and maintain tracking records while operating postage meters and related equipment. Strong attention to detail and customer service are essential.

Qualifications

• Academic credential shows ability to follow procedures and support mail operations.
• Proven accuracy in handling mail and packages with attention to detail.
• Experience in a mailroom, warehouse, or postal services is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receive, sort, process, and distribute mail and packages for students, faculty, staff, and departments.
• Process carrier shipments (USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL) per university procedures.
• Create shipping labels, enter shipment data, scan packages, and track items.
• Operate postage meters, scanners, scales, label printers, and related equipment.
• Provide customer service and assist with shipping questions.
• Verify, organize, and distribute packages to mailboxes and smart lockers.
• Maintain records and assist with missing or misdirected mail tracking.
• Keep a clean, secure work area and protect confidentiality of mail data.
• Follow university, postal, and safety procedures; perform other duties as assigned.
