Job summary

The State of South Carolina is seeking a Postal Operations Supervisor to oversee all mail activities between USPS and the institution. This role delivers and collects mail, manages package intake, and ensures proper handling to prevent contraband.

You will supervise mail processing per USPS and SCDC policies and maintain relevant records. The position requires supervisory experience, high school diploma, and familiarity with postal/delivery operations.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma and work experience in postal, courier or delivery operations.
• Supervisory experience is required or substituted by higher education.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates all activities between USPS and the institution.
• Delivers and picks up all mail.
• Receives USPS and UPS packages and coordinates delivery to the property officer.
• Directs and supervises inspection of all mail for contraband.
• Maintains and interprets USPS regulations and SCDC policies for mail.
• Keeps records of money instruments received or returned.
• Coordinates activities of the E. H Cooper trust fund.
• Researches records for inmate locations to handle mail properly.
• Directs receiving and distribution of USPS and department mail.
• Directs activities of both incoming and outgoing mail and packages.
• Plans and schedules work assignments and employee training.
