Job summary

GKN Aerospace is seeking a Machinist - Certified II for the 2nd shift. The ideal candidate will lay out stock, set up and operate manual and CNC equipment, and collaborate with engineering to resolve processes.

Strong GD&T knowledge and a proven manufacturing track record are essential. You will be responsible for maintaining quality, recording process data, and contributing to a safe, efficient shop floor.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years of manufacturing experience and proficiency with precision measuring equipment.
• Ability to read and comprehend GD&T (Geometric Dimension and Tolerance) of various metallic and composite materials.
• Proficiency in English to understand and follow safety procedures, policies and manuals.
• US Citizen or Green Card Holder due to security clearance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe workplace and comply with company policy and government regulations.
• Lay out metal and nonmetal stock and perform complex set-ups for manual/CNC centers.
• Operate multi‑axis machining centers and tools for milling, drilling, lathe, grinding or turning operations.
• Use operation sheets to remove material to meet customer specifications.
• Record operating parameters and maintain documentation for WIP, inventories and schedules.
• Keep a clean, organized work area following 5S and standards.
• Assist in developing and maintaining a culture aligned with business objectives.
• Train and mentor other operators as required.
• Comply with the policy on contracting with the U.S. Government for relevant work.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
