Job summary

Collins Aerospace is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist for a 2nd shift role in an aerospace environment. You will program, operate, assemble and inspect metal parts on CNC and manual machines to meet precise tolerances.

The ideal candidate has at least 4 years of CNC experience, strong blueprint/GD&T interpretation, and proficiency with Excel/Word/PowerPoint. Extensive training and benefits are offered, with a focus on quality and safety.

Qualifications

• Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D in the US) or vocational/ technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
• Certification in core discipline with 4-5 months of employment.
• Certification on multiple programs labeled as moderate to difficult in degree of complexity.

Responsibilities

• Produces machine parts by programming, assembling, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) or manual machine (Lathes, Mills, Grinders, and other specialized CNC and manual machines.
• Interprets blueprints, work orders, engineering plans, specifications, reference planes, designs sketches and geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T) for operation, material, and dimensional requirements.
• Assembles, repairs, and fabricates metal parts into sub-units or complete units using operating mechanical equipment.
• Takes measurements of material and selects appropriate machines for the process.
• Performs machining setups and makes adjustments as required.
• Conducts inspections of work produced.
• Checks SPC charts for frequency of checks, gauging and measurements.
• Keeps records and maintains quality/safety standards.
• Exhibits RTX Leadership Behaviors and Values.
• Supports and follows all rules/guidelines/standards set by EHS, Quality and CI functions as set by assigned leader and position.
• Perform other duties as assigned including working extended shifts/overtime as required by the business.
• The schedule for this position is 2nd shift Monday through Friday 3:30pm – 12:00am . Training however will be the first 2-3 months Monday through Friday, 7am - 3:30pm.
