Job summary

GE Aerospace in Newark, NJ, is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist - 2nd Shift to support advanced aerospace manufacturing. You will perform independent setups, operation, troubleshooting, and in-process inspection on CNC turning and grinding equipment used to produce critical engine components.

This role requires you to own setups, understand the process, and drive performance on the floor while upholding quality and safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or vocational school certificate.
• 5+ years of machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with CNC turning and/or grinding and independent machine setups.
• Proven ability to machine parts to tight tolerances with precision measurement tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform independent CNC setups on lathes, turning centers, and grinders.
• Operate CNC and grinding equipment, monitor process performance, and adjust for quality.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and inspection requirements.
• Verify tool selection, dress grinding wheels, and monitor wear and part growth.
• Identify and address machining issues (chatter, taper, runout) and escalate nonconformances.
