Job summary

KAAST Machine Tools is seeking a Machine Tool Service Technician for Chicago, IL. The role combines shop and field work, preparing, inspecting, installing, and maintaining CNC and conventional machines, with emphasis on troubleshooting and customer service.

You will travel about 25-50% to customer sites, perform installations, start-ups, PMs, and provide on-site support. Entry-level and experienced technicians are welcome; compensation is $20.00 to $50.00 per hour based on experience.

Qualifications

• 1+ years in industrial machine installation, maintenance, or repair.
• Hands-on experience with machine tools (lathes, milling machines, saws, grinders, brakes, shears).
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to read blueprints, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics.
• Good communication and customer-facing skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare new machines for customer shipment.
• Uncrate, assemble, power up, and perform complete inspections and operational testing.
• Complete written inspection and service reports.
• Install machinery and assist with machine startups.
• Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repairs on customer equipment.
• Provide technical support to customers over the phone and during on-site service visits.
