Horspool & Romine MFG is a long-standing, family-owned machine shop looking for a dependable and detail-oriented Machine Operator / Machinist to join our team. We are looking for a dependable, hardworking, and detail-oriented individual who takes pride in producing quality parts and doing the job right. The ideal candidate works well independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to quality, accuracy, and safety.
Machining experience is , but we are willing to consider candidates with strong mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual lathes, mills, grinders, and other machine shop equipment.
• Produce precision parts according to customer drawings, specifications, and requirements.
• Perform machining operations including turning, milling, grinding, cutting, and other related processes.
• Read and understand engineering drawings and work instructions.
• Take accurate measurements using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection equipment.
• Inspect parts to ensure dimensions and tolerances meet requirements.
• Make appropriate tool or machine adjustments to maintain part quality.
• Maintain accurate part counts and production records.
• Identify and properly document approved and defective parts.
• Complete jobs efficiently and within established timeframes.
• Keep work areas, machines, and tools clean, organized, and safe.
• Follow company quality and safety procedures.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and notify management of equipment issues.
• Work cooperatively with other employees and assist with other shop duties as needed.

Requirements

• Previous experience working in a machine shop .
• Experience operating manual lathes, mills, grinders, or similar equipment.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
• Experience using precision inspection equipment such as calipers and micrometers.
• Basic understanding of machining processes and cutting tools.
• Basic math skills, including the ability to work with fractions and measurements.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
• Ability to accurately maintain part counts and production records.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Dependable, responsible, and willing to learn.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety and maintaining a clean work environment.
• Ability to lift and move materials and parts weighing 25+ lbs.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the workday.
