Primary Purpose Of This Position

Fabricate parts for structural fabrication, Service Center, and miscellaneous steel assemblies according to cutting lists, shop drawings, and DWS quality standards.

Essential Job Functions

• Identify steel shapes, sizes, and tolerances.
• Fabricate materials as instructed, including beams, tubes, angles, channels, grating, pipes, plates, or rounds, following shop drawings, AISC codes, and machine capabilities.
• Adjust machines for accurate dimensions.
• Detect errors in cut lists and shop drawings early.
• Operate forklifts, cranes, conveyors, and transfers to move materials.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
• Attend required meetings.
• Work reliably scheduled hours at designated locations.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to read, write, and perform arithmetic involving fractions, decimals, and whole numbers.
• Understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
• Operate measuring tools and machinery safely.
• Pass a skills test covering shop drawing interpretation and basic geometry.
• Use computers for cut-lists and inventory management.
• Demonstrate attention to detail and safety consciousness.
• Operate forklifts and cranes safely, understanding hand signals.
• Perform minor mechanical tasks on equipment.
• Follow inventory procedures and multi-task effectively.
• Physical demands include frequent standing, walking, lifting, reaching, and other movements as detailed.

Non-Material Handling Demands

• Work 40 hours weekly, with possible overtime and weekends.
• Maintain safety and wear PPE.
• Visual and auditory awareness of safety issues.
• Exposure to environmental conditions as specified.

Tools: Pencil, square, tape measure, markers, grinder, etc.

Machines: Saw, cranes, forklifts, etc.

Experience and Education
