Aerotek in Hillsboro, OR is seeking a Machine Operator for the day shift to operate and maintain CVD furnaces and related production equipment. You will record data, follow safety procedures, and support surface treatments and routine maintenance.

Qualifications

Job Title: Machine Operator – Day Shift (CVD Furnace)

Job Description

This role operates and maintains CVD furnaces on a steady day shift schedule, ensuring safe, efficient production and high-quality output. You record and interpret process data, handle specialized chemicals, perform surface treatments, and support a clean, safe manufacturing environment while working closely with production teams.

Responsibilities

• Operate CVD furnaces on the day shift (Monday through Friday, 5:30 AM – 2:30 PM), including setup, loading, and unloading according to established procedures.
• Accurately record process information in written and electronic formats, and interpret the data to determine if any corrective or follow-up actions are required.
• Monitor furnace performance daily to ensure stable operation and adherence to process parameters and quality standards.
• Perform routine periodic maintenance on process equipment and furnaces used in the CVD process to maintain reliability and uptime.
• Handle specialized chemicals safely and follow all emergency procedures in the event of process deviations or accidents, referencing Safety Data Sheets (SDS) before use.
• Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times and in all required situations.
• Perform surface treatment operations such as lapping, washing, rinsing, and drying to meet quality requirements and applicable procedures.
• Manage hazardous energies in a safe manner, following all lockout/tagout and related safety protocols.
• Record equipment malfunctions and process deviations promptly and clearly to support troubleshooting and continuous improvement.
• Accurately record inventory used during production and assist with periodic inventory counts.
• Follow all safety policies, standards of conduct, and ethics guidelines consistently.
• Promote a positive work environment and maintain clean, organized work areas free of safety hazards.
• Identify potential improvements to procedures, processes, or equipment and communicate them to support continuous improvement efforts.
• Perform general production tasks such as loading, unloading, packing, inspection, and use of power tools as needed to support manufacturing operations.
• Inspect parts during processing, using machine data and visual checks to ensure they meet quality requirements.
• Support general manufacturing activities in a production environment, including heavy lifting and repetitive tasks.

Essential Skills

• Previous production or machine operation experience in a manufacturing environment.
• High attention to detail with the ability to interpret machine data and inspect parts in process.
• Ability to read and interpret safety documents, machine procedures, and instructions in English.
• Ability to read and understand English instructions related to production, safety, and equipment operation.
• Basic computer skills and ability to utilize computers for data entry and process documentation.
• Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with machinery, tools, and production equipment.
• Ability to consistently lift and move up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as walking, sitting, standing, and climbing throughout the shift.
• Comfort working with power tools and in a manufacturing environment with active production processes.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
