Job summary

Aerotek is seeking an operator to set up and run TOCCO induction machines in a Nadcap-accredited vacuum carburizing and hardening facility in Davenport, IA. You will work on a small, collaborative team, owning tooling and running parts on legacy equipment during 3rd shift operations.

The role involves maintaining quality, documenting production data, and supporting continuous improvement while adhering to safety guidelines and SOPs.

Qualifications

  • CNC experience is a plus but not required.
  • Experience in environments similar to machining or metal treatment facilities is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with blueprints or schematics is a nice-to-have and supports more accurate setups.
  • Previous exposure to induction heating, heat treating, or hardening processes is advantageous.
  • Experience completing production paperwork (PPW) or similar documentation is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Set up TOCCO induction machines for production runs, ensuring correct tooling, parameters, and configurations for each job.
  • Operate TOCCO machines to process parts, monitoring equipment performance and making adjustments as needed to maintain quality and throughput.
  • Tool and process between 10 and 1,000 parts per day, depending on job requirements and production schedules.
  • Load and unload parts into and out of machines safely and efficiently, using proper handling techniques.
  • Perform general labor tasks associated with machine operation, similar to machinist work in a production environment.
  • Conduct quality checks and hardening inspections on parts to verify they meet specifications and standards.
  • Complete required paperwork (PPW) accurately and on time, documenting production data, inspections, and any issues encountered.
  • Collaborate with team members and leadership to address machine issues, improve processes, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Follow written instructions, standard operating procedures, and work orders to ensure consistent and repeatable results.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to facility safety guidelines and housekeeping standards.
  • Use basic mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot minor machine issues and assist with adjustments or simple maintenance as needed.
  • Reference blueprints or schematics, when available, to better understand part requirements and machine setups.

Work Environment

The role is based in a newer, Nadcap accredited vacuum carburizing and hardening facility located near a major interstate in an industrial park. The building features multi-chamber vacuum equipment, oil and gas quenching chambers, and both traditional and vacuum tempering furnaces. The environment is clean and well-lit, but can be very warm due to the furnaces operating inside the facility. You will work on a small team with ownership present in the building and will spend the majority of the day working independently. The position is on 3rd shift, and the facility culture allows you to wear headphones in one ear while tooling parts, provided safety guidelines are followed.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Davenport, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
