Job Title: General Machine Operator Job Description

This role involves operating a variety of general production machines and equipment to process incoming pin orders accurately and on time. You will set up, run, and maintain machines such as tumblers, stamp presses, and saws, while using hand and power tools to ensure consistent quality and efficient workflow. The position requires attention to detail, basic mechanical aptitude, and the ability to manage independent work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment during a first-shift schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Operate a variety of general machines, including tumblers, stamp presses, saws, and related equipment in the pin department.

  • Use hand and power tools to set up, adjust, and maintain production equipment according to specifications.

  • Troubleshoot basic mechanical issues on machines to minimize downtime and maintain steady production.

  • Process all incoming pin orders accurately and in a timely manner, following established procedures and standards.

  • Operate and maintain all machines and equipment in the pin department to ensure safe and efficient performance.

  • Inspect parts during and after production to maintain quality control standards and identify defects or inconsistencies.

  • Write and complete tags for all orders, ensuring clear and accurate documentation of work performed.

  • Plan and execute small projects related to production, process improvement, or equipment setup as assigned.

  • Ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and organization of independent work to meet production schedules and customer requirements.

  • Participate in Continuous Improvement activities and the Suggestion System by identifying opportunities to improve processes, safety, and efficiency.

  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while operating machinery and handling materials.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area around machines and equipment.

Essential Skills
  • Experience as a general machine operator or in a similar manufacturing role.

  • Ability to operate saws, stamp presses, and other general production machinery.

  • Proficiency using hand tools and power tools for equipment setup, adjustment, and basic maintenance.

  • Capability to read and interpret basic prints or production instructions.

  • Basic mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot simple mechanical issues on equipment.

  • Ability to perform general labor tasks, including assembly and production work.

  • Attention to detail for inspecting parts and maintaining quality control standards.

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 45 lbs as part of daily duties.

  • Strong organizational skills to process orders accurately and complete required documentation.

  • Reliability to work first shift hours from 5:30 am to 2:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Prior manufacturing experience in a production or machine operation environment.

  • Experience with stamping press or stamp press operations.

  • Familiarity with continuous improvement practices and contributing to suggestion systems.

  • Comfort working independently while meeting production schedules and quality expectations.

Work Environment

The environment can include typical manufacturing conditions, such as machine noise and, depending on the machine being operated, occasional odors that may make the area a bit smelly. The role requires standing for most of the shift and lifting up to 45 lbs, while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work area in accordance with facility safety practices.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
