Job summary

thyssenkrupp Materials Services is seeking a certified material handler to join our warehouse floor team. You will operate cranes and forklifts, process material to work orders, and maintain a clean, safe work area while accurately recording measurements and materials data.

The role requires basic math skills, reading/writing ability, and the physical capacity to lift up to 40 lbs. Training and lean/quality participation are part of the job, with shifts offered on a rotating schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Ability to read and write and perform basic math.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Operate cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment.
• Apply metal to customer orders and process material per work order specifications.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly processing area.
• Enter information accurately and maintain records.
• Identify, record, and segregate scrap and non-conforming material.
• Train others when required.
• Support lean and quality activities on the floor.
• Work directly on the warehouse floor near heavy machinery.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities

• Must be certified in the material handler position.
• Operate cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment.
• Pull, inspect and verify product before processing.
• Properly and safely set up equipment to run material to set up note specifications.
• Process set up notes according to work order specifications.
• Verify that product meets set up note specifications per written work instructions and record measurements (sampling plan).
• Communicate with appropriate sales representative regarding changes/clarification to orders.
• Perform equipment preventive maintenance; Perform general clean-up.
• Properly enter/delete material identification tags per written instructions.
• Assist in the packaging of material per written work instructions and work order.
• Maintain issued measurement equipment in working condition.
• Properly operate weighing scale and record inspection measurements.
• Identify, record, and segregate scrap and any non-conforming material.
• Provide feedback to supervision regarding machine efficiency and product quality.
• Complete job responsibilities in a manner that does not put him/herself or other individuals in an unsafe situation.
• Train others when required.
• Assist in any activities related to lean and/or quality.
• This is a position that works directly on the warehouse floor on or around heavy machinery.

Shift Times

• 1st shift: 6am-2pm
• 2nd shift: 2pm-10pm
• 3rd shift: 10pm-6am

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

• An individual must posses a high school diploma/ GED
• Ability to read and write
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs
• Perform basic math skills
• Safety Mindset

Preferred Requirements

• Previous warehouse experience - especially in the metals industry
• Previous forklift experience
• Use of hand held measuring tools
• Computer literate.
