Job summary

thyssenkrupp is seeking a Warehouse Forklift Operator in Elgin, IL to move raw materials, finished products, and equipment around the facility using a forklift. The role emphasizes safety and operates under direct supervision.

Shift: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm, with optional weekend overtime. Responsibilities include stocking, picking, loading/unloading, counts, and basic forklift maintenance; may require Kaltenbach saw cutting. Benefits provided.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to read and write English; French in Quebec.
  • Lift and carry up to 70 lbs. for 100 ft.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Previous forklift experience required.
  • May sit for long periods and perform bending, twisting, squatting, reaching and grasping motions.
  • Safety mindset essential.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately removes and stocks product, customer’s product, and various supplies according to inventory plan.
  • Accurately selects product to fill customer orders and package them properly.
  • Loads and unloads trucks and verifies items loaded/unloaded.
  • Picking, processing and packing orders; cut orders on Kaltenbach saw if needed.
  • Completes cycle counts.
  • Identifies, holds and segregates defective material.
  • Completes paperwork per work instructions as required.
  • Performs general clean up.
  • Inspects forklift at start of shift; reports issues to supervisor.
  • Participates in health, safety, ISO and 6S initiatives.
  • Assists in other duties to support the operation on the warehouse floor.
  • This position works around heavy machinery.

Job Description

  • This is a position that works directly on the warehouse floor on or around heavy machinery.

  • Use of handheld measuring tools
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge, such as with database programs and Microsoft Office programs.
Job Compensation

$22.00/hour
