Job summary

International Paper in Roanoke, VA is seeking an hourly Full-Time worker to support quality checks and operate as backup for the line. The role involves feeding boards into machines, inspecting items, and keeping a clean, organized work area.

You will follow work orders, fill top sheets, and handle sheets; occasional heavy lifting and standing for long periods are required in a climate-controlled but dusty plant.

Qualifications

• Counting and stacking finished products and reading factory orders.
• Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds, with more frequent lifting of 1–20 pounds.
• Requires reaching below waist and knee, kneeling and squatting; rare stairs.
• Frequent hand/wrist work, keyboarding and manual dexterity.
• Long periods of standing and walking in a plant environment.

Responsibilities

• Check quality and perform operator backup as needed.
• Feed boards into machines and inspect/process items.
• Report defects to the operator immediately.
• Stack neat bales per work order specifications.
• Fill out top sheets and use top/bottom sheets correctly.
• Maintain housekeeping and participate in preventive maintenance.

The Job You Will Perform

Check Quality

Operator backup

Feed board into machines

Inspection, counting and bundling of items

Reporting all deficiencies to the operator immediately

Stacking of neat bales per work order specification

Properly filling out top sheets per work order specification

Obtaining and proper use of top and bottom sheets

Housekeeping (organizing and keeping area neat and clean)

Preventive maintenance

Skills & Physical Demand

Counting and stacking finished product, reading factory order, o ccasional lifting / carrying up to 25 pounds requiredwith more frequent lifting/carrying of 1-20 pounds. The job requires reaching below waist and knee, and at waist level, kneeling, squatting, and climbing stairs on rare occasions. More frequent hand/wrist work, keyboarding and mousing, power grasping, and pushing/pulling materials. More frequent walking left and right-hand work and simple grasping and constantly standing onfeetfor extended periods of time.

Work Environment

Employee must wear protective glasses and earplugs when using compressed air . Most of the work is inside the plant with occasional work (<1% of the time) outside. The plant is chilly in the winter (above freezing) and is hot in the summer (non-airconditioned). The plant isgenerally cleanof debris andclutter,but the manufacturing process generates a fair amount of corrugated dust. There are notany hazardousmaterials in the manufacturing process. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job.
