Job summary

International Paper is hiring a Machine Helper in Greeneville, TN for the night shift (8:30 pm – 6:30 am, Sun-Wed). The role supports machine operators, performs quality inspections, handles materials, and assists with setups and production tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Feed raw materials into production machinery safely and efficiently.
  • Stack, bundle, and prepare finished products according to work order specifications.
  • Obtain and properly use top sheets, bottom sheets, tie sheets, routing tags, and other production materials.
  • Perform required quality checks and inspections throughout the production process.
  • Monitor product quality and report defects or production issues to the operator or supervisor.
  • Complete production paperwork, routing tags, bale counts, and other documentation accurately.
  • Assist machine operators with setups, changeovers, and adjustments as needed.
  • Pre-stage materials, tooling, plates, and other production components to support efficient machine operation.
  • Monitor machine performance and notify operators of issues affecting quality or efficiency.
  • Assist with ink changes, material changes, and other production-related tasks as required.
  • Make minor machine adjustments under operator direction and within training guidelines.

SUMMARY

Supports machine operators in the safe and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment by performing quality inspections, material handling, setup assistance, preventive maintenance activities, and production support functions. Ensures products meet quality standards while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Must comply with all applicable GMP, Site Security, Safety, and Food Packaging Defense requirements referenced in the facility’s GFSI Food Packaging Safety Program.

  • Complete production paperwork, routing tags, bale counts, and other required documentation accurately.
  • Assist machine operators with setups, changeovers, and adjustments as needed.
  • Pre-stage materials, tooling, plates, and other production components to support efficient machine operation.
  • Monitor machine performance and notify operators of issues affecting production quality or efficiency.
  • Assist with ink changes, material changes, and other production-related tasks when required.
  • Make minor machine adjustments under operator direction and within established training guidelines.
Skills & Physical Demand

Counting and stacking finished product, reading factory order, o ccasional lifting / carrying up to 25 pounds required with more frequent lifting/carrying of 1-20 pounds. The job requires reaching below waist and knee, and at waist level, kneeling, squatting, and climbing stairs on rare occasions. More frequent hand/wrist work, keyboarding and mousing, power grasping, and pushing/pulling materials. More frequent walking left and right-hand work and simple grasping and constantly standing on feet for extended periods of time.

Work Environment

Employee must wear protective glasses and earplugs when using compressed air . Most of the work is inside the plant with occasional work (<1% of the time) outside. The plant is chilly in the winter (above freezing) and is hot in the summer ( non-air conditioned) . The plant is generally clean of debris and clutter, but the manufacturing process generates a fair amount of corrugated dust . There are not any hazardous materials in the manufacturing process. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job.
