Job summary

International Paper is seeking a Maintenance Technician for the Fridley, MN plant, working the 11pm–7am shift, Monday–Friday. The role offers a pay rate of $32.50–$41.64 per hour in a fast‑paced production environment.

Ideal candidates bring strong mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic skills, plus the ability to read measuring devices. SAP experience is a plus as are related maintenance credentials.

Qualifications

  • Two years of maintenance experience with at least one year with the same employer.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic aptitude.
  • Technical degree or apprenticeship certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance activities such as lubricating, measuring run out, calibrating dials, aligning components, and observing operations.
  • Complete emergency/break down maintenance to support plant operations.
  • Perform electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, steam system, and other repairs and installations.
  • Accurately use measurement and test equipment and maintain records.
  • Work independently as well as part of a team; follow safety rules; overtime may be required.

The Job You Will Perform:

We are looking for self-motivated individuals who are capable of performing a multitude of functions in a flexible, fast-paced production environment. Our workplace requires individuals who understand the needs of the business while maintaining a focus on safety, customer satisfaction, quality, and productivity.

  • Perform preventative maintenance activities such as lubricating, measuring run out, calibrating dials, aligning components, and observing operations, vibrations, and noise level
  • Complete emergency/break down maintenance as necessary to support plant operations
  • Perform electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, steam system, and other repairs and installations
  • Accurately use measurement and test equipment
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas and cleaning up work areas as part of completing assigned tasks
  • Accurately and completely prepare and maintain maintenance records and other paperwork
  • Work independently as well as part of a team
  • Follow all safety rules and practices
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervision
  • Based on the business needs and peak production times, mandatory overtime may be required for this role.
The Skills You Will Bring:
  • MN Special Engineer Boiler License not required but a PLUS.
  • SAP experience is a PLUS.
  • Strong mechanical skills and aptitude
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Skilled in pneumatics, electrical, PLC, and hydraulics
  • Ability to accurately use and read a variety of measuring devices
  • Well-rounded electrical, mechanical and machine shop skills and experience
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work overtime as needed
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of maintenance experience with at least one year with the same employer
  • Highly-qualified candidates would possess a technical degree or apprenticeship certification and maintenance experience in the corrugated industry or similar manufacturing environment
