Job summary

Rollon by Timken in the United States is seeking a Project Engineer - Machine Design to lead the design, development, and validation of mechanical systems and production equipment.

You will coordinate cross-functional teams across mechanical, electrical, controls and manufacturing, develop CAD models, perform FEA, and drive design reviews while ensuring safety, manufacturability, and on-time delivery within scope and budget.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • Hands-on design experience using mechanical design principles, GD&T, and material selection.
  • Understanding of machine design, sensors, pneumatics, motion control, and industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, Profinet, DeviceNet).
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and P&IDs.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and validate mechanical systems, assemblies, and custom production equipment.
  • Develop CAD models and drawings; perform FEA and stress analysis.
  • Conduct design reviews, tolerance analysis, and feasibility studies for concepts.
  • Oversee fabrication, assembly, and validation of equipment and tooling; ensure safety standards.
  • Lead machine design projects from concept through deployment; manage scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams (mechanical, electrical, controls, manufacturing, integrators).
  • Prepare project documentation: functional specs, risk assessments, FAT/SAT, change orders.
  • Track milestones, identify risks, and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide on-site support during system build; analyze field data for improvements.
