Job summary

ND Paper is seeking a Machine Assistant 1 for the Converting Floor in Sturtevant, WI. You will assist with setup, operation, and changeovers, acting as the primary quality checkpoint during production and helping with minor adjustments.

The role requires a high school diploma, 6–12 months in manufacturing, ability to read job tickets, and a willingness to progress toward Operator competency. This is a 3rd shift position with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High school/GED required.
• 6–12 months of manufacturing experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret job tickets including board spec, print spec, die layout, fold style, and bundle count.
• Basic understanding of corrugated quality standards: scoring, print defects, glue bond, and tolerances.
• Willingness to learn toward Operator competency and work at machine speed with quality focus.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate safety as a core value and establish a safe work environment.
• Assist the Operator with all phases of job changeover: removing/staging plates, dies, anilox rolls, and ink systems.
• Set up glue systems, temperatures, bead placement, and application weight at job start; monitor glue quality.
• Perform first-article quality inspections at startup: verify dimensions, score depth, fold quality, and print registration.
• Conduct in-process quality checks; document results and communicate deviations to the Operator.
• Make minor press adjustments under Operator direction and develop independent adjustment capability.
• Lead outfeed and cleanup at job end; ensure changeover area is ready for next job.
• Operate the machine independently for short durations with Supervisor authorization.
