Job summary

ND Paper is seeking a Machine Assistant 1 for the Converting department on the 3rd shift (10PM–6AM, Su-Th, with occasional weekends). The role supports the Operator in setup, operation, and changeovers, serving as the primary quality check point during production runs and participating in minor adjustments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 6–12 months of manufacturing experience; converting preferred.
• Ability to read job tickets such as board specifications, print specs, die layout.
• Basic understanding of corrugated quality standards and tolerances.
• Ability to operate at machine speed while maintaining quality.
• Bilingual English, Mandarin, or Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support the Operator with all phases of job changeover.
• Set up glue systems, temperatures, and application weight.
• Perform first-article quality inspections at startup.
• Conduct in-process quality checks and document results.
• Make minor press adjustments under Operator direction.
• Handle outfeed, stacking, and quality sampling tasks.
• Monitor counts, speed, and waste; alert Operator to trends.
• Lead end-of-shift cleanup and prepare changeover area.
• Operate machine independently for short durations with supervision.
• Record downtime reasons and actions for unplanned stops.
