Job summary

PBR Executive Search Ltd is seeking an Mergers & Acquisitions Associate for a prestigious international corporate practice in New York. The role involves advising on complex transactions, with direct exposure to partners and clients on market-leading deals.

The ideal candidate has 2–6 years PQE in M&A at a top law firm, strong drafting and negotiation skills, and a proactive, collaborative approach to deal execution. Excellent academic credentials are expected.

Qualifications

  • 2–6 years' post-qualification experience in M&A/strategic corporate transactions.
  • Experience at a well-regarded corporate law firm.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate law and M&A transactions.
  • Experience handling sophisticated domestic and cross-border matters preferred.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on domestic and cross-border mergers & acquisitions across multiple industries.
  • Manage buy-side and sell-side transactions from inception to completion.
  • Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of transaction documents.
  • Assist with complex corporate matters including restructurings and joint ventures.
  • Coordinate due diligence and manage transaction timetables.
  • Collaborate with clients, opposing counsel and multidisciplinary teams.

Job description

An outstanding opportunity has arisen for a talented Mergers & Acquisitions Associate to join a highly regarded international corporate practice. This role offers the chance to work on sophisticated domestic and cross-border transactions for a prestigious client base that includes multinational corporations, private equity sponsors, financial institutions, and high-growth businesses.

The successful candidate will join a collaborative, high-performing team where associates are given meaningful responsibility from the outset, working directly with partners and clients on some of the market's most significant strategic transactions.

The Role

You will advise clients throughout the lifecycle of complex M&A transactions, providing commercially focused legal advice while taking an active role in deal management and execution.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Advising on domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions across a broad range of industries.
  • Managing both buy-side and sell-side transactions from inception through to completion.
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide variety of transaction documentation.
  • Advising on complex corporate matters including acquisitions, divestitures, strategic alliances, spin-offs, carve-outs, leveraged buyouts, recapitalisations and other strategic transactions.
  • Coordinating due diligence processes and managing transaction timetables.
  • Working closely with clients, opposing counsel and multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful deal execution.
  • Taking increasing ownership of client relationships and transaction management as your experience develops.
  • Delivering commercially pragmatic advice while maintaining exceptional client service standards.
About You

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Approximately 2–6 years' post-qualification experience (or equivalent) with a strong focus on mergers and acquisitions and strategic corporate transactions.
  • Experience gained at a well-regarded corporate law firm.
  • Strong technical knowledge of corporate law and M&A transactions.
  • Experience handling sophisticated domestic and, ideally, cross-border matters.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • A proactive, collaborative approach with the confidence to manage significant responsibilities.
  • Outstanding academic credentials and a genuine interest in complex transactional work.
  • A stable career history demonstrating continued progression and development.
