Job summary

Buchanan LLC in Washington DC seeks an Associate for its Mergers & Acquisitions practice to advise private equity sponsors, general partners, and institutional investors on complex transactions and strategic initiatives.

You will draft and negotiate transaction documents, oversee due diligence, and coordinate with clients, financial advisors, and internal teams to drive high-profile GP-led and sponsor-side deals forward.

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
  • Admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction (or eligibility to waive in).
  • 3-7 years of experience in M&A, private equity, or related transactional practice.
  • Demonstrated experience with sponsor-side transactions and GP-led solutions preferred.
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex transactions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience advising private equity sponsors or asset managers.
  • Familiarity with fund structures and GP/LP dynamics.
  • Background at a top-tier law firm or relevant in-house experience.
