Job summary

Highgate Hotels in New Orleans is seeking a Steward/Potwasher/Warewasher to maintain cleanliness of kitchens, back dock, dumpster, and storage areas, and to assist kitchen staff with proper food storage and sanitation. The role includes operating the dishwashing equipment to ensure china, glass, and silver are cleaned and stored safely.

The position requires the ability to stand for long periods, plus flexibility for heavy lifting and shift work.

Qualifications

• Education & Experience: High School diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
• Physical requirements: Flexible and long hours sometimes required; Heavy work up to 100 pounds force, etc.
• General Requirements: Friendly demeanor, good communication, multitasking, punctuality, and safety compliance.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high cleanliness in kitchens, back dock, dumpster and utility areas.
• Heavy cleaning of ovens, grills, sinks, and walk-in units; sanitize equipment.
• Wash pots, pans and utensils; vacuum carpeted areas; sweep, mop and wash floors.
• Assist with buffet setup/breakdown; assist Banquets with china, glass, and silver as required.
