Job summary

Omni Hotels & Resorts in New Orleans is seeking a kitchen steward to maintain high cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen. You will sort, wash, and store ware, polish silver, and keep equipment and areas clean to support cooks and servers.

This role requires physical endurance and the ability to work weekends/holidays, with responsibilities including inventory reporting and safe chemical handling. Training and opportunities to join a dynamic hotel team are provided.

Responsibilities

• Promptly and carefully sort soiled ware for dish or pot machine.
• Wash ware quickly and replace in storage areas as designated.
• Keep dish machine clean and filled with water per standards.
• De-tarnish/polish silver for appearance.
• Clean kettles, skillets, pots and pans promptly so cooks can work.
• Transport and clean utensils and service ware for guests.
• Maintain kitchen work areas and restaurant equipment in clean condition.
• Sweep and mop floors.
• Wash worktables, walls, refrigerators, and meat blocks.
• Separate and remove trash to designated containers.
• Steam-clean or hose-out garbage cans.
• Scrape food from dirty dishes and wash by hand or use machine.
• Run glasses through dish machine twice.
• Put away and rotate stock; store clean utensils.
• Clean and sanitize all kitchen equipment, stoves, grills, and prep tables.
• Clean and sanitize all kitchen areas, floors and walls.
• Report inventory to supervisor for supplies and chemicals.
• Follow safety guidelines for cleaning chemicals and storage.
• Report equipment not working to supervisor/manager.
• Assist kitchen staff when needed.
• Assist Stewarding Supervisor with inventories of china, glass & silver.
• Attend department meetings and required trainings.
• Complete other duties as assigned by management.
