Job summary

CHANEL in New York is seeking an Alterations Specialist to produce high-quality altered merchandise within established time frames. You will fit garments for clients, organize client-owned pieces, and collaborate with boutique associates and management to deliver the CHANEL experience.

The role requires at least 5 years of luxury alterations experience, deep knowledge of fabrics and sewing techniques, and exceptional client service.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma required.
• 5+ years alterations experience in luxury retail preferred.
• Knowledge of fabrics and sewing techniques essential.
• Excellent client service and communication skills expected.
• Ability to lift up to 15 lb and work flexible hours.

Responsibilities

• Produce high quality altered merchandise within established time frames.
• Fit garments for clients and advise on styling and fitting.
• Organize and maintain client owned pieces per CHANEL standards.
• Interact with clients to provide styling suggestions and alterations guidance.
• Ensure sewing machines and equipment are in proper working order.
• Alter or repair garments, including hemming, mending, lengthening, and taking in/out seams.
• Fit garments on clients to determine required alterations.
• Construct garments per client specifications and preferences.
• Label and record alterations for each client.
• Communicate with clients to determine specifications and needs.
• Press garments to remove creases using irons and pressing machines.
