Job summary

Thompson San Antonio located on the River Walk is seeking a line cook to join our culinary team. The role requires preparing foods to specification, checking recipes, and maintaining high standards of quality and presentation during busy service periods.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of experience in upscale dining, knowledge of kitchen safety, and flexibility for shifts including weekends. Join us for a role with growth potential and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a cook in an upscale restaurant.
• Knowledge of cooking and kitchen procedures to maintain quality and efficiency.
• Food handler certification.
• Flexible working hours including weekends and evenings.

Responsibilities

• Check items against recipe cards and verify records for all served items.
• Monitor line setup to ensure efficiency during meal periods.
• Enforce 'clean as you go' policy and equipment maintenance.
• Prepare food following recipes and portion standards; start ahead when needed.
• Date and rotate perishables; maintain proper temperatures.
• Check pars for shift use; plan preparation and line setup.
• Note out-of-stock items and potential shortages.
• Keep buffet stocked and return unused items to storage with date/cover.
• Assist in controlling food costs and reducing waste per SOP.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

High school diploma or GED

Associate degree in culinary arts (preferred)
