Job summary

Crescent Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Kitchen Line Cook to join our team at the St. Anthony Hotel in downtown San Antonio.

The role involves preparing food to Crescent standards, maintaining safe and sanitary work areas, and supporting a high-quality guest dining experience. The ideal candidate has at least one year of culinary experience, can handle flexible shifts including evenings and weekends, and holds or is willing to obtain TABC, Food Handlers, and Tips Trained certifications.

Qualifications

• At least one year of culinary experience required.
• Must be able to work flexible shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• TABC certification, Tips Trained and Food Handlers certification are highly preferred.
• Candidates should be organized with a sense of urgency and guest satisfaction in mind.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food items with consistency according to recipes and standards.
• Start food items prepared ahead of time without over-preparing.
• Rotate per Crescent standards and maintain proper temperatures for perishables.
• Check pars for shift use, plan production and line setup.
• Return unused items to storage and label perishables.
• Assist in controlling food costs and minimizing waste.
• Operate and clean kitchen equipment properly.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Kitchen Line Cook is responsible for preparing food items in accordance with production requirements and quality standards while maintaining a safe, sanitary work environment.

What will you be doing?

• Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production and portion standards, per check from servers.
• Start food items that are prepared ahead of time, making sure not to over prepare estimated needs.
• Date all food containers and rotate as per Crescent standards, making sure that all perishables are kept at proper temperatures.
• Check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull and line set up. Note any out-of-stock items or possible shortages. Assist in keeping buffet stocked.
• Return all food items not used on next shift to designated storage areas, being sure to cover/date all perishables.
• Assist in setting up plans and actions to correct any food cost problems, control food waste, loss and usage per Crescent standards.
• Operate, maintain and properly clean deep fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, food processor, mixer, slicer, oven steam table, tilt kettle, waffle iron and flat top grill.
• Perform any other job related duties as assigned.

What is required?

• At least one year of culinary experience is required.
• Must be able to work flexible shifts that include evening, weekends, and holidays.
• TABC certified, Tips Trained and Food Handlers certification are all highly preferred.
• The ideal candidate will be organized and able to work with a sense of urgency and seeking guest satisfaction.
• Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry, or otherwise, transport up to 50 lbs.
