Job summary

The Hotel Californian in Santa Barbara, CA is seeking a Banquet Server to deliver timely, courteous service for events. Read Banquet Event Orders and execute instructions with teammates.

Candidates should have at least one year of customer service, be adaptable to mornings, nights, holidays and weekends, and possess knowledge of food and wine pairings. Experience in a luxury hotel is preferred, and strong written communication helps in coordinating with staff.

Qualifications

• One year minimum of customer service experience preferably within the Food & Beverage industry.
• Excellent written communication and presentation skills.
• Highly motivated and flexible, possessing the ability to take initiative.
• Flexible schedule, able to work mornings, nights, holidays and weekends
• Experience in a luxury world-class hotel or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meal accompaniments to banquet attendees.
• Perform side work.
• Open & pour bottled wine for guests along with other table beverages.
• Knowledge of current menu being served and ability to describe ingredients.
• Take note of special guest requests and/or allergies and act accordingly.
• Bus and set tables/stations, as needed.
• Keep various stations replenished and clean (i.e., deli, dessert, coffee, espresso)
• Help direct guests and answer questions about facility.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Must have food and wine knowledge for pairing suggestions.
• Communicate with support crew and management.
