Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Human Factors Engineer for its Lunar program in Seattle. You’ll lead HF activities from requirements through verification, shaping crew interfaces and operations with NASA collaboration for safe, operable lunar systems.

You will drive HF analyses, HITL testing, and verification planning, partnering with systems engineering to influence architecture and ensure crew safety and mission success.

Qualifications

• Passion for our mission: working towards millions of people living and working in space!
• B.S. in Engineering or related technical discipline
• 5+ years of industry experience in human factors engineering or human-centered system design
• Expertise in task analysis methodologies and execution
• Expertise in anthropometric analysis
• Demonstrated experience leading human-in-the-loop test programs in safety-critical environments
• Strong systems engineering background with requirements development and verification planning
• Proven ability to influence system architecture through HF analysis
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to earn trust and contribute to a culture of inclusion
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Own HF activities from requirements development through verification
• Write, evaluate, and challenge HF requirements; drive safety and operability needs
• Develop and own HF verification strategy and verification events
• Conduct task analyses and human error analyses for crew interfaces with NASA
• Lead HITL test campaigns across environments like NBL, ARGOS, JSC facilities
• Perform anthropometric analyses and ergonomic evaluations
• Partner with systems engineering to influence architecture decisions
• Interface with NASA's Astronaut Office and formal collaboration forums
• Support engineers and promote technical excellence and inclusive collaboration
