Job summary

Baranko Companies, headquartered in Dickinson, ND, seeks a hands-on OTR Maintenance Technician to perform lubrication, tire service, and preventive maintenance on heavy equipment. The role involves scheduling services, organizing workflow, maintaining inventory, and ensuring timely PM and tire needs.

You will document work in HCSS E360, follow safety procedures, and communicate issues to the OTR Maintenance Lead.

Qualifications

• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn OTR maintenance.
• Ability to safely operate hand and power tools after training.
• Basic computer skills and ability to use HCSS E360.
• Able to work in shop and outdoor environments and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled lubrication, fluid checks, filter changes, oil changes, and routine preventive maintenance on OTR equipment.
• Inspect and service tires, wheels, and related components.
• Identify leaks, wear, and developing issues during basic inspections.
• Assist OTR mechanics with PMs, inspections, and basic repairs as needed.
• Document labor, parts, fluids, tire work, and service details in HCSS E360.
• Communicate unsafe conditions and overdue service to the OTR Maintenance Lead.

Job description

Baranko Brothers, Inc. performs heavy highway/civil construction, Baranko Environmental, LLC focuses on environmental services and waste disposal management, Baranko Services, LLC provides oilfield swabbing services, and Center Coal Company is a stoker and lump coal retailer. Together, they serve a broad range of clients across North Dakota and beyond.

The long-term goal is for this technician to take full hands-on ownership of the OTR preventive maintenance and tire programs. This means personally performing the work while also scheduling services, organizing workflow, maintaining inventory, documenting completed work, and ensuring PM and tire needs are addressed on time.

What Success Looks Like:

• Assigned lubrication, tire, and routine service work is completed safely, correctly, and on schedule.
• Tire condition and pressures are maintained to reduce failures, downtime, and unnecessary tire costs.
• Developing maintenance issues are identified and communicated before they become larger failures.
• Fluids, filters, lubricants, tires, and service materials are used and documented accurately.
• Work orders and maintenance information are complete and current in HCSS E360.
• Work areas, tools, service equipment, and inventory remain clean, organized, and ready for use.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform scheduled lubrication, fluid checks, filter changes, oil changes, and other routine preventive maintenance tasks on assigned OTR equipment.
• Inspect, inflate, rotate, repair, replace, and maintain tires and wheels within training and company procedures.
• basic maintenance inspections and identify leaks, wear, damage, loose components, tire concerns, and other developing issues.
• Assist OTR mechanics with PMs, inspections, basic repairs, parts handling, equipment preparation, and other maintenance activities as assigned.
• Accurately document labor, parts, fluids, tire work, inspection findings, and completed services in HCSS E360.
• Communicate unsafe conditions, overdue service, tire concerns, and additional repair needs to the OTR Maintenance Lead before equipment is returned to service.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas, tools, tire equipment, lubrication equipment, and assigned service vehicles or equipment.
• Follow company safety procedures and proper practices for lifting, jacking, blocking, tire inflation, wheel installation, fluid handling, and disposal.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn OTR maintenance and repair.
• Basic set of hand tools and basic tooling to perform services on OTR equipment.
• Previous tire, lube, automotive, truck, equipment, or mechanical experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to safely operate common hand tools, power tools, jacks, lifting equipment, and tire-service equipment after training.
• Basic computer/mobile-device skills and ability to learn HCSS E360.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work in shop and outdoor environments.
• Ability to work in wet, dirty, hot, cold, and changing working conditions.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and reach throughout the workday.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
