Job summary

SpecialtyRx is a Long-Term Care pharmacy seeking a Medication Receiving Technician in Morton Grove, IL. You will verify incoming shipments, match orders to invoices, and ensure proper storage and regulatory compliance for refrigerated and controlled medications.

The role requires at least 1 year in pharmacy receiving, IL Pharmacy Technician Certification, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Excellent attention to detail and teamwork are essential, with a day shift training expectation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• IL Pharmacy Technician Certification required per state regulations.
• Minimum 1 year of pharmacy or inventory receiving experience; LTC or retail pharmacy experience preferred.
• Familiarity with pharmaceutical products, NDCs, and receiving documentation.
• Comfortable using pharmacy management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Must be able to train on day shift.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Receive and verify all incoming medication shipments (prescription drugs, OTCs, refrigerated meds, and controlled substances).
• Match purchase orders with invoices and packing slips, ensuring accuracy in quantities and NDCs.
• Inspect all packages for damage, expiration dates, and storage compliance (e.g., refrigeration).
• Enter received items into the pharmacy inventory system (e.g., FrameworkLTC, SureCost).
• Label and shelve medications according to storage guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Assist in rotating stock and removing short-dated or expired inventory as part of QA.
• Handle controlled substances in compliance with DEA, state board regulations, and internal protocols.
• Communicate discrepancies or damaged shipments to Inventory Lead or Purchasing.
• Collaborate with packaging, fulfillment, and order entry teams to maintain workflow.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of receiving and inventory areas.
• Participate in cycle counts and physical inventory audits as scheduled.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
