The Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC, seeks a security-support professional to assist in ordering, receiving, and distributing equipment, and to maintain property records for staff and collections. This role requires safeguarding property and training others on lost/found procedures within a federal program.

Qualified candidates will have one year of specialized experience at the GS-05/06 level, with pathways to GS-07 through demonstrated oversight of property administration functions.

This position is located in the Office of Protection Services (OPS) responsible for ensuring the safety and security of staff, visitors, and national collections across the Smithsonian.

Experience:

GS-06: You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in the Federal Service. For this position, specialized experience is defined as:

  1. assisting in ordering, receiving and distributing equipment and supplies;
  2. maintaining up-to-date records of inventory, stock and property account records; and
  3. managing lost/found articles for an organization while safeguarding property in accordance with procedures and guidelines.

GS-07: You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 level in the Federal Service. For this position, specialized experience is defined as:
