Job summary

The Smithsonian Institution, located in the Office of Protection Services, seeks a qualified candidate for a GS-11/12 human resources support role. The incumbent will provide technical assistance and advisory support on HR programs, assist with staffing and recruitment, and review personnel actions and position descriptions for accuracy and compliance.

Emphasis is on federal HR processes within a large museum complex.

Qualifications

Job description

The Smithsonian Institution is the world’s largest museum, education, and research complex, with 21 museums and the National Zoo. This position is located in The Office of Protection Services with the Smithsonian Institution. The Office of Protection Services (OPS) is responsible for overseeing a large museum/complex law enforcement and security program, and leading and providing protection throughout the Smithsonian Institution (SI).

GS-11:

You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the Federal Service. For this position, specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience providing technical assistance and support to employees and management on human resources programs and processes; assisting with staffing and recruitment activities; coding and processing personnel actions; and reviewing position descriptions for accuracy and compliance.

Or Education:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

or

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.M., if related

GS-12:

You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal Service. For this position, specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience providing technical assistance and advisory support to employees and management on human resources programs and processes; assisting with staffing and recruitment activities; coding and processing personnel actions; reviewing position descriptions for accuracy and compliance; and interpreting and guiding management on human resources policies, procedures, and guidance.
