Job summary

Watertown Public Schools in Watertown, MA is seeking a Long-Term Substitute Instructional Assistant to support students with disabilities. The role reports to the Principal and is part of the Special Education department, with a daily rate of $139 and a temporary tenure from 11/30/26 to 3/10/27.

This position offers an opportunity to continue as a per diem substitute after the long-term assignment, depending on district needs. Strong collaboration and ABA knowledge are valued for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Experience supporting students with disabilities in a public school setting preferred.
• Experience implementing behavior support plans and ABA concepts.
• Ability to assist with de-escalation and executive functioning skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide needed supports to students during instructional periods and non-instructional activities.
• Maintain student data as directed by teachers and related service providers.
• Follow and implement behavior support plans provided by staff.
• Support the classroom teacher and student based on needs.
• Assist with learning styles and development considerations.
• Use prompts and modeling to help students access curriculum activities.
• Perform other duties as required.
