Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree or higher preferred.
• Previous experience working with children in an educational setting is desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate with teachers and staff.
• Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting student learning.
• Ability to adapt to diverse classroom situations and respond to varied student needs.
• Familiarity with educational technology and willingness to learn new tools.
• Must pass background checks as required by school district policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher in implementing lesson plans and instructional activities.
• Provide individualized support to students, including those with special needs, to help them achieve educational goals.
• Monitor student progress and behavior, providing feedback and reinforcement as necessary.
• Facilitate small group instruction and assist with classroom management.
• Help prepare instructional materials and resources to enhance student learning.
• Support students during transitions between activities and throughout the school day.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in professional development opportunities as required.
• Maintain a safe and organized classroom space, ensuring materials are accessible to students.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and needs.
