Job summary

Harrington Elementary School in Lexington, MA is seeking a 0.4 FTE Long-Term Substitute ESL Teacher to cover an immediate leave through early January 2027. The role is part-time, with two days per week (Mondays and Fridays) at a $175 per diem rate and non-benefits eligibility.

The teacher will plan and deliver English language development instruction for English learners, in coordination with the building principal and the Director of ESL Education.

Qualifications

• Must hold MA DESE English Language Learners license at the appropriate level.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; high level of capability with technology.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required (if applicable).

Responsibilities

• Instructs English learners in ESL classroom and in general education settings.
• Plans age-appropriate English language development instruction across reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
• Maintains records, prepares progress reports, and communicates with parents and administration.
• Assists students and families in navigating the school and community culture.
• Creates a positive, safe classroom environment and uses diverse instructional techniques.
