Job summary

Broad Brook Elementary Schools in East Windsor, CT, seeks a Long-Term Classroom Substitute to provide instructional continuity during an extended teacher absence.   • Previous teaching or long-term substitute experience.
  • Experience with differentiated instruction and educational technology.
  • Familiarity with Connecticut Core Standards and district curriculum, preferred wxperince with primary grades and science of reading knowledge.

  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams, special education staff, specialists, and administrators.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional learning, parent conferences, and school events as appropriate during the assignment.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff.
  • Perform all other duties expected of the regular classroom teacher during the assignment.

Job Description

East Windsor Public Schools is seeking a qualified and dedicated Long-Term Classroom Substitute Teachers to provide instructional continuity during an extended teacher absence. The successful candidate will assume the responsibilities of the classroom teacher, fostering a positive learning environment while delivering high-quality instruction aligned with district curriculum and Connecticut Academic Standards.

This position is ideal for an educator who is passionate about student success, values collaboration, and is committed to maintaining consistency for students throughout the duration of the assignment.

Grades 1 & 2, anticpated dates October 1, 2026 through Decemebr 4, 2026 and Novmebr 16, 2027 through May 1, 2027.

Essential Responsibilities:

Physical Demands:*

  • Must possess the ability to stand, sit, and walk unassisted and provide movement assistance to students as needed
  • Must possess the ability to lower self to a seated position on floors, and to move from a seated position on floor to standing position unassisted
  • Must possess normal visual acuity, with or without corrective lenses, and depth perception

Work Environment
  • Often work indoors, moving between classrooms and other school areas

Work Days
  • Work days follow the school calendar, particpation in before & after school meetings may be required
Work Scheduled
  • Work hours vary by school location: BBES 8:45-3:45; EWMS 7:55-3; EWHS 7:15-2:15
Compensation
  • Daily Compenstation is based on BA Step 1 of the current EWEA Contract - $308.55 per day
